Yung Bleu has been the underdog of all underdogs in the past few years. Despite the increasing critical acclaim, popularity, and co-signs that many of his peers haven’t received, there’ve been plenty of moments where he felt like he’s been counted out. For instance, he spoke out after he wasn’t included in the BET Awards nominations for Best New Artist. However, it feels like anyone who has been sleeping on him will be turning their heads in his direction once he releases Moon Boy.
The new release comes days after his tour announcement and right on time for his appearance at Rolling Loud Music Festival in Miami. His Moon Boy Tour will take him across 38 dates ranging from Chicago and Los Angeles to Houston and Atlanta.
The star of Yung Bleu took off following his “You’re Mines Still” platinum collaboration with Drake. Ahead of the release of the album, he released “Way More Close (Stuck In A Box)” feat. Big Sean as well as super collaborative record “Baddest (feat. Chris Brown and 2 Chainz),” which was produced by Hitmaka.
The Alabama native will take the show on the road when his “Moon Boy Tour” kicks off Aug. 26 in Minneapolis. The 38-date North American trek runs through Oct. 9 in Seattle. Moneybagg Yo and Kodak Black team up on “Angels Never Cry,” while Chris Brown and 2 Chainz join Bleu on “Baddest,” for which he also released a video. Two artists that didn’t make the album are Chloe Bailey and Wale. According to Yung Bleu, his former label Columbia Records didn’t clear the songs.
In addition to the platinum-certified hit “You’re Mines Still” with Drake, the star-studded set includes appearances from John Legend, H.E.R., Kehlani, and Big Sean. The 15 tracks also feature Jeezy, Davido, Gunna, and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. The anticipation for the song began when Chloe Bailey shared a cover of “You’re Mines Still.” The brief cover went viral and Yung Bleu extended an invitation to work on music together. Shortly after, Bailey, Bleu, and Wale were sharing snippets of themselves in the studio together.
